so i have been listening to pandora heart meditation radio. that deepak knows a thing or two.

so supposedly, if you wrap your mind around the knowledge that you only think you know everything – and let go of your ego – you can let go of fear, too. hmmmmm.

i have thought a lot about this and am making a pretty serious attempt to work on this.

because it actually makes sense if you think about it for a bit.

this piece was created with a nifty combination of a really old watercolor that i painted probably about 5 or 6 years ago with a smidge of graphic design magic.

(notice how ego appears in the phrase “let go” – yep. that is a sign peeps.

in the spirit of the new year. i am wrapping my noggin around two themes/schemes.

i need to learn to break my own rules.

the other is all about looking at things i need to change as a reward, not a punishment. that is a long story that needs to sit a while so someone needs to remind/bug me and I will spill later. maybe.

back to the rule breaking thing.

so when i was in school i always took notes with the same kind of paper, same pen, same writing utensil. weird. compulsive. necessary. i was not so anal-weird that i didn’t switch it up for different classes. but, seriously, if i started history notes on college ruled paper with a black ball point pen in printing – that was how the whole year was captured. needless to say – spiral notebooks were not my friend. and half of what i learned – i learned because i went home and rewrote the stinkin notes to match the rest.

so thing blog writing thing is kicking my arse. (for several reasons-again another story) i find that i am not blogging because in my feeble old/middle age – I can’t remember how i spaced things or if i used all caps for the title – and do i use brackets or parenthesis for dates in said titles? Don’t even get me started about the photos that i insert. it is keeping me from doing what i want to do.

seriously.

so. this post has NO photo and i am making the whole stupid thing CENTERED.

so there.

love me. or not. i have to get out of my own way. and i don’t mind shoving a few others if need be.

Just finished. Flashes of brilliance (and not so much) from the dorm room yesterday.

1. I don’t leave things well enough alone
2. I have a thing for the shabby rainbow color scheme right now
3. I figured out a way to recreate a pattern i really like by accident. (Now to remember it the next time I paint is another story)
4. General’s Sketch and Wash pencils are a new fave
5. I like drinking coffee with mini-marshmallows in it. It is like a mullet – business in the front, party in the back – but in drink form

i have a friend, a far-away kind. she has a way with words. i sent her a photo of a piece i was working feverishly on. about half way through my process. almost done i thought but, really, not even close.

i finished it. happiness found in the colors, the circles, my story layered inbetween the lines.

then her (pretty) words came. the kind that make you smile. and i was so thrilled that she saw a story in my work, too. not mine but hers. this is how it works.

Introducing a new holiday mini workshop! I am so excited to be participating in a new workshop by Christy Tomlinson, 12 Artsy Ornaments of Christmas!  Lots of inspiration and fun to be had – and just in time to make some yummy gifts for the holidays!

I have teamed up with 10 artsy designers to participate in a 5 day workshop that starts December  5^th!

This class will be featured on Christy’s private website and each day 3 new artsy ornaments and home décor projects will be posted by 3 new designers! We will dive into all sorts of artsy play including fabric, clay, glitter, metal, glass and more! Day 5 of the workshop will include bonus projects as well as a few fun PDF downloads for you to use as well! Come join me and my friends for some artsy fun for the holidays!

This workshop will actually be availble for 6 months.. so you will have plenty of time to go back and watch videos! This is the PERFECT workshop for to get your creative juices flowing for the holidays!
